The new 7 wonders of the world

There's been all this hype about voting for the new 7 wonders of the world after the ancient ones, 2200 years later. And as of now there are 5 days remaining to vote. There's a lot of hulla-gulla in India that the Taj is being voted out. For the population that our country has and for the number of internet-savvy younger generation, its shocking for this to happen.

Here's the site: http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php. You need to register to vote. Go ahead and cast your vote for the Taj Mahal, a true and everlasting symbol of love, right on our Indian soil. The results are going to be disclosed on the historic date of 07-07-07. Lets vote us in!

Well...well...well...don't u think it's stupid tht the 7 wonders are going to be based on a voting system!!!! So all Indians vote for the Taj without any knowledge about the rest of the sites? Even if we did some research on them all, how can one expect a common man to differentiate one from the other? Don't u think forming a committee (of historians and artists) to make a decision on the final 7 is the way to go? I really think tht's the way it should be...

"I was born in India and so I will vote for the Taj" does not sound too right. Wht if u were born a few inches across the Indo-China border? U then vote for the Great wall, is it???? :)

Sachin -> I hope people take the cue.

Akil -> I agree with you. Most of us wouldnt have been to more than 3 of the listed 14 choices. I agree that unsuspecting public vote is a sucky way of deciding, But while that is the way, why not help influence it our way? And if you actually took the pains to go there, you would know that you are expected to choose 7 and not 1. So if you were born on the Indo-China border, you could vote for both the Taj and the Great Wall. :-)
